Learn about the ins and outs of floodplain hazard and river corridor maps with David Rosa from the VT DEC Rivers Program. David will demonstrate how to access and interpret map data, understand NFIP insurance requirements, municipal and state regulations, flood mitigation opportunities for buildings and strategies to help prospective purchasers reduce losses from flooding and channel erosion. 

The objective of this course is to provide Real Estate professionals with a basic understanding of:


The various flood hazards which affect properties in Vermont,
The roles and responsibilities of property owners and local municipalities within the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and
Acceptable floodproofing techniques generally used in residential and commercial buildings.
