This overview of residential energy efficiency is appropriate for housing professionals not in the energy field and anyone else who lives in a building. It consists of two modules which complement each other.

Part 1 - Covers the house as a structure and the microclimate it encloses.

Part 2 -  Focuses on the various devices and machines (heating, cooling, appliances, lighting, ventilation) we use in our homes, and on opportunities for improving energy efficiency in both new and old homes.

Steve Spatz

Steve Spatz is a Residential Energy Consultant and Account Manager with Efficiency Vermont.  Steve works with Efficiency Vermont EEN partners in the residential construction market to support their work in designing and building efficient and healthy homes.  Partners include builders, building materials suppliers and HVAC distributors, Architects and mechanical engineers, and Home Performance with EnergyStar contractors.  A substantial part of Steve’s work involves the interpretation and implementation of building energy codes and the foundational fundamentals of Building Science.  Before coming to work at Efficiency Vermont Steve founded and ran a residential construction and building consulting business for 15 years in Rutland county.
